For 20-year-old Alonge Adeola, life was ‘normal’ until she noticed she could twist and bend her body into strange and unnatural positions.

The Ondo-state indigene who is a graduate of Houdegbe North American University Benin Republic spoke exclusively. She said that although many people in foreign countries go for numerous training just to know how to contort, hers is a gift as it has always been part of her.

Miss Alonge revealed also that although she enjoys contorting, her parents and everyone around do not support it because they feel it is unladylike, weird and it might scare suitors away from her when she is finally ready to marry. Because of these reasons, no one is in support of her rare talent.

When the Accounting graduate was asked what exactly she wants in life, she said she wishes contorting could be seen as an acceptable norm in Nigeria.

Miss Alonge’s ability to contort is a gift but according to her, some see it as devilish

“I wish contortion would be accepted in Nigeria because there are people with the rare talent that are scared to showcase it as they fear being rejected. I’m not only doing this for myself but for everyone that has something unique in them.

Please Nigerians accept us, it’s a gift not a spirit like everyone around me calls it. It’s not as hard as it seems, we are not possessed.”

Miss Alonge currently works as a stylist in Lagos. She also hopes to be an international model and dancer although she was once told during an auditioning that she can’t model because her legs aren’t straight.
